Bringing Peg to Schools: My Visit to Henry Elementary

Peg has officially launched! Last week I visited Henry Elementary and read to seventeen classrooms before noon. Phew! It was so much fun.

I was pleasantly surprised to see that Peg delighted kids of all ages. The Pre-K students loved her, and so did the fifth graders. Fitting in and figuring out who you are is one of those themes that resonates no matter how old you are.

It was a joy to share Peg’s story — including the part about me getting fired from a job, which ended up inspiring the book!

Henry Elementary made me feel incredibly welcome and helped ease me back into public speaking. I have terrible stage fright, but I love kids and I love interacting with them. The students were so polite, asked wonderful questions, and even shared some of their own stories with me.  A special shout out to Trina Olson for organizing this whole event.

One of my favorite moments was seeing the students engage with the story themselves. Watching kids listen, laugh, and even read from the book reminded me why I love sharing stories with young readers.

Thank you, Henry Elementary, for helping me launch Peg Finds Her Place!
